Step back in time to an era when MTV ruled the airwaves!

We'll be featuring the live vocal stylings of singer Mia Dorr before popular Twin Cities DJ Brownie hits the stage, playing the hottest songs (and videos!) of the 1980's.  As we get closer to midnight we will be spinning a mix of top 40, dance, disco, old school, and house as we ring in the new year.

Live entertainment includes aerialists, roller skaters, stilt walkers, and more performances from the renowned Dragonsfire Theater.

Timeline of Music*:

7:30:  Live 80's vocals from Mia Dorr

9:00: MTV Hits of the 1980's with DJ Brownie

11:00: Our DJ will transition into a mix of top 40, dance, disco, old school, and house as we get closer to midnight.

Doors for this event will open at 7:00 for VIP guests, who are invited to enter through an exclusive VIP entrance with expedited check-in and complimentary coat check. From 7:00-8:30, VIP guests will be greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne. General Admission guests are invited to start their evening at 8:00.

Conveniently located near the intersection of Highways 394 and 100, the award-winning Metropolitan Ballroom has been newly renovated in the fall of 2019. This stunning reimagining brightened the space, adding new flooring, beautiful light fixtures, and a magnificent, custom glass chandelier over the dance floor while still retaining its classic elegance and nods to its nightclub past. With free on-site parking, the Metropolitan is an exquisite choice to ring in the new year and we are thrilled to present our 2024 bash at this elegant venue.

About our Vocalist: Mia Dorr is the band leader and front person for Mia Dorr and the Funkin’ Bluesers, a locally based funk and blues band. She is the featured vocalist in the live music series “Evolution of the Diva”. Mia has a jazz and blues duo/trio, and also does a weekly 90-minute show where she performs a wide range of music from pop to oldies to show tunes. She created a one-woman prohibition-themed show that ran continuously for two and half years at one of Minneapolis’s most popular speakeasies and she does this show regularly around the Twin Cities. She is one of the vocalists in the music group YOLO and has released two CDs of music. She just celebrated 33 years of owning the music company Mia Dorr’s Premier Entertainment.

About the DJ: Eric Arcilla, aka Brownie, has held DJ residencies and guest DJ’d at a number of popular nightclubs in the Twin Cities for well over a decade. Currently hosting two residencies, Brownie consistently draws patrons with his open-format style that keeps the dancefloor going. Along with his local resumé, he has DJ’d for numerous national events including the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, Monster Energy 4th of July Mission Beach, and various Coca-Cola events across the US including the Coca-Cola Beach Spring Break (South Padre Island, TX). “You have to keep the whole room entertained. Their energy can be dictated by how well a DJ can read a crowd. It can sometimes be a challenge, but when it works, that synergy between DJ and dancefloor is what makes me love what I do.”

About Us: Beckworth Events, through its close collaboration with NYEMPLS, has earned a reputation for throwing spectacular New Year's Eve parties. In 2016 NYEMPLS's NYE event was featured nationally on NBC’s New Years Rockin’ Eve with Carson Daly. Other recent NYEMPLS events for which Beckworth Events acted as a co-producer have included The Black & White Ball and Magic: 24K New Year's Eve at the Hyatt. After four solo NYE events at the Metropolitan, Beckworth Events is excited to showcase yet another exciting New Year's Eve celebration for you!
